The boys are getting old enough now that letting them use a camera doesn’t totally scare me. Letting them use my brand new Nikon D40 DOES scare me. That’s why we’re looking at this Canon PowerShot.

This camera is just enough camera for a kid who’s starting to get serious about taking pictures. It’s an 8 megapixel and has 3X optical image stabilized zoom. The price isn’t too scary and the quality is better than a lot of those “kids” cameras that are on the market now.

This is it. The coolest Nintendo DS case around. My son’s friend has it and I have to say I agree.

There’s a place for your DS, your games, etc. It has a shoulder strap so you can carry it WHILE you’re playing your DS, and you can fit a ton of games in it.

Best thing for a parent… you won’t constantly be hearing, “Mom, where’s my DS? I can’t find it.”

Swiss Army Cub Scout Pocket Knife

My 8 year old just found out that when you’re a Cub Scout you can get a pocket knife. How did he find that out? Another boy on our street was walking around whittling on a piece of wood. He said, “It’s okay, I can have this. I’m a Cub Scout.”

If you’ll notice, this is a very simple knife and probably one of the only ones I’d entertain the idea of getting for my son. I’m more of a hands on type, and will most likely NOT let my guy walk around whittling.

But, I would love to see him whittling away trying to make a little animal out of a piece of wood (he thinks it’ll be no problem!).

These pencils are a big deal right now in elementary school. All of the kids are collecting and using them. It’s less expensive to buy them online than in the stores where they can run as much as $4.00 each.

Smencils are made from recycled newspapers and come in a 10 pack with scents like root beer, bubble gum, cotton candy, popcorn and cherry. Yum. Too bad you can’t eat them.

The stomp rocket is always a hit with all kids, and boys especially. Just about any child can jump, which makes this fun even for smaller children.

There is an inflated disc that you jump on. The foam rocket shoots into the air, and it will go far…we have shot them several yards away from our house (hmmm, that was probably my husband). It’s a lot of fun.
